The planning of the new district is located on the other side of the railway, in a block isolated from the old city. The starting point of the plan stems from thinking about three aspects: how to integrate into the regional landscape network? How to cross the railway? How to design a new residential model to adapt to the local wetland environment and potential floods?

Inspired by the existing linear urban space, we hope to construct a simple and rational urban form: a parallel structure. The urban space has become easier to interpret, ensuring a transparent relationship between railways and wetlands. We have implanted a green functional belt between the new urban space and wetlands: sports facilities, leisure areas, and wetland parks. Through this transitional space, wetland landscapes are indirectly introduced into the city.

The existing connections on both sides of the railway are 1200 meters apart. We suggest adding two possibilities for crossing the railway at this distance: extending the underground passage of the train station and constructing a new pedestrian bridge. As a result, the original fifteen minute walking distance has been reduced to around five minutes. The streets of Xinjie District attempt to establish visual and spatial connections with the city center, unifying the old and new sides in mechanism.
